We are elated to announce our newest site launch. A couple of local broadcasters (Shane Oelker & Erich "Hoppy" Hopkins") came to us at the beginning of August with a tall task.  They had just been informed that the local radio station they worked for was no longer covering local high school football.

Shane and Hoppy love bringing live game broadcasts to the area every Friday night, so they didn't want to give up on something they (and local sports fans) loved.  They wanted to know what it would take to get something up and running in time for tonight's statewide High School Football kickoff night. We immediately got started on the challenge.

Shane and Hoppy were amazing.  Local sponsors were amazing, and in about 2 weeks time, funds were secured, equipment was purchased, and websites were built in anticipation of Opening Night tonight!

Now, Champaign County has a new home for local sports coverage. ChampaignSportsAuthority.com is Shane and Hoppy's new home for live broadcasts, local scores, blogs (including their 1st blog post here) and more!  This is just the tip of the iceberg, so if there's something more you want to see on the new site, Contact Us or Contact Shane & Hoppy and let them know what you want to see in local sports coverage.

It will begin with Friday Night High School Football (and specifically Mechanicsburg @ West Jefferson tonight), but the broadcasters plan on carrying their momentum into basketball season and beyond!  They want this thing to continue to grow and become a year-round source for Champaign County sports news. There's still time to get on the ground floor if you want to Sponsor Champaign Sports Authority. (Shane and Hoppy are doing this as a hobby on the side, so they need sponsors to help bring all of this to the local communities.)
